Mint Online: Polka Dot Bride

Hayley & Dene's beautiful Kurrajong garden wedding is featured today on Polka Dot Bride! Read the full story and see all the photographs here.

It seems this is the week of Polka dot bridette’s weddings! Today is another absolutely stunning wedding day- a garden wedding in the Kurrajong Hills outside Sydney and the wedding of a very loyal and special Polka Do Bride reader Hayley! I had such fun emailing Hayley prior to her wedding day, hearing about her plans and brainstorming ideas with her- it was such a thrill to see her photos and see how her day had finally come together (and finally reunited with her love Dene after a long period of air force training!) Hayley says “My whole wedding had a personal touch, with a budget in mind and my dream wedding in my heart I decided to make each and every detail special to us.”

Hayley explains how she and Dene met. “Dene and I met when we were both in High School, I was 14 at the time, We worked weekends together in the local supermarket. It was a classic case of ‘check out girl falls for her shy shelf packing crush’. After our first year together Dene moved to a new work place in Canberra which saw us complete 2.5 years long distance before moving in together and doing 3 moves in 3 years, our story is one of love that has stood the test of both time and distance, one of making each waking moment spent together count for more than you ever thought it could. Dene has always had perfect timing, this timing saw his proposal overlooking the Opera House all the more special, as it happened to be the night they were testing the fireworks for New Years Eve, a 20 minute display lit the skies as we celebrated our engagement.”

Mint Online: Real Weddings Magazine

If you didn't get enough of Tamie & Adam's wedding in Real Weddings Magazine, their wedding story and photographs are also featured on Real Weddings online. Read the full story below, and see the full Real Weddings gallery here.

"When your husband-to-be is a professional rugby union player and three of your bridesmaids are pregnant, picking the perfect wedding date can be a little tricky, yet Tamie McLachlan and Adam Freier managed to tie the knot four days before the 12 year anniversary of their first date.

Adam proposed to his high school sweetheart on bended knee on Christmas Eve 2008, presenting her with a custom made diamond ring at the exact location where the couple first kissed. "He had hired out the entire room and surprised me with chilled champagne on a table for two on the dance floor," Tamie said.

The couple flew to Fiji for a pre-wedding honeymoon two weeks prior to their nuptials, and Tamie said it proved the perfect escape. "It was really special for the two of us to spend some time together and relax while getting excited for the big day."

Tamie will never forget the moment she stood with her Dad at the entrance to the church just before they walked down the aisle. "Our vows were also a touching moment and really emotional as we literally didn't take our eyes off each other and it really felt like we were the only two people in the church," she said.

Tamie truly glowed at the ceremony in her backless all-over lace gown. "I was very cautious of having a dress that I would have to pull up or worry about on the day, and I fell in love with the cut - particularly the back of the dress - and how comfortable I felt in it."

As an interior designer, Tamie is a big fan of the modern crispness of white, and the colour scheme also flowed to the bridesmaids' dresses, the shasta daisy bouquets, and the stunning waterside reception. "We really thought long and hard about our favourite things; food, wine, locations, music, and made sure that it was all included in the day. Adam and I are lunch people and love great food, wine and an amazing view so our restaurant was the perfect location for us," she explained.

"We have been to so many friends' weddings that I think we had both slowly worked out a checklist of what we loved and what we wanted our day to be like for ourselves and our guests. The wedding day itself was absolutely magical - and more than we could have imagined."

FINER DETAILS

Carrying a beautifully soft bouquet of daisies and pierus, Tamie also wore a charming circlet of daisies in her hair.

At the entrance to the reception, a vintage flower stand displayed white enamel buckets filled with bunches of flowers wrapped in brown paper; these flowers were Tamie and Adam’s ‘thank you’ gifts for all of their guests to take with them after the celebrations.

An old vintage wheelbarrow full of greenery and old timber crates also decorated the entrance.
The custom designed invitations, wrapped in a raw twine bow, featured a stamp with Tamie and Adam’s names on it as well as the date of the wedding.

The envelopes were a recycled brown paper with gold twine stitching along the top; this detail was then carried through to the menu cards.

In a statement of style, no two reception tables were exactly the same. Covered in hessian material, each table displayed a collection of different sized vintage vases and jam jars for the white flowers as well as different bread boards and old bread knives.

In contrast to the strong industrial table numbers, cutlery was wrapped in soft lace."

Mint Online: Polka Dot Bride

We're this week's featured vendor on the lovely Polka Dot Bride!

"A boutique wedding and portrait studio run by the lovely Sarah, Mint Photography is based out of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and has worked for over twelve years in the photography industry. Sarah loves to capture candid natural moments and I find her photographs have such a gentle grace to them!

To get to know Sarah a little better, we quizzed her five questions in five minutes!

What is your favourite after five drink?

Would have to be a cold glass of Tyrells Vat 1 Semillon from the Hunter Valley, but if I am on holidays, its a Martini with three olives !

Your favourite weekend getaway?

Oh there are too many! Pepper’s Anchorage in Nelson Bay is gorgeous, and the suites in Milton Park, Bowral are just stunning!

Favourite restaurant?

Fu Manchu in Victoria St, Darlinghurst- contemporary Asian BYO – the Beijing dumplings are to DIE for! Get in early so you don’t miss out!

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

Vegemite toast and a nice hot cup of tea out on the deck , but if Stephen cooks bacon and eggs or one of his omelettes I get it in bed xxx How lucky am I!!!

Your favourite wedding story?

There are so many that come to mind , but Ann and Jason’s wedding was particularly memorable- they got married on the most southern tip of the York Peninsular ( Marion Bay) in the Innes National Park in South Australia. I have never seen such beauty in a remote coastal setting. The sunsets, the shipwrecks, the dolphins…. Jason’s indigenous heritage was incorporated into the ceremony and I felt so privileged to be part of such an intimate family wedding."

Thank you, Polka Dot Bride!

I am a romantic girl, there is no doubt about it, and I wanted to do something special for my fiance, Stephen...

Jonquils are one of his favourite flowers, and I made this 'vase' with three old bottles and some garden twine... the little "I'm Yours" tag has a mini wooden peg holding it to the jonquil stem.

Simple...
